Our language assistant, Helen, tell us the activity BINGO for 2º ESO and 4º ESO in the subject Geography and History with teachers Vanesa Benítez and Gloria Rivera:

In our 2ºESO and 4ºESO History classes, I have been using BINGO as a tool for learning about History topics in English.

For the 2ºESO groups, I created BINGO cards filled with terms about the society, art, and culture of Al-Andalus (Muslim Spain), the territory of the Iberian Peninsula under Muslim rule from the year 411 until 1492.

For the 4ºESO groups, I made BINGO cards about the Industrial Revolution that took place in Europe, beginning in the 18th century. The terms corresponded with readings in our English history books and other activities we had done in class.

During the games, I read definitions of the BINGO terms in English and tasked the students with finding the correct term and marking it on their cards with their garbanzo bean “card markers.” Once a student had five terms in a row on their BINGO grid, they received a candy prize from me.

This activity was very fun to prepare and to play with the students, and I think that these games helped everyone to learn more about these history topics and English, as well!

En nuestras clases de Historia de 2ºESO y 4ºESO, he estado usando BINGO como herramienta para aprender sobre temas de Historia en inglés.

Para los grupos de 2ºESO, yo creé unas tarjetas de BINGO con términos sobre la sociedad, el arte y la cultura de Al-Andalus (España Musulmana), el territorio de la Península Ibérica bajo dominio musulmán desde el año 411 hasta 1492.

Para los grupos de 4ºESO, yo hice algunas tarjetas de BINGO sobre la Revolución Industrial de Europa, empezando en el siglo XVIII. Los términos correspondían con lecturas en nuestros libros de Historia en inglés y otras actividades que habíamos hecho en clase.

Durante los juegos, yo leí las definiciones de los términos de BINGO en inglés y les pedí a los estudiantes que encontrarán el término correcto y lo marcaran en sus tarjetas con sus «marcadores de tarjetas» de garbanzos. Cuando un estudiante tenía cinco términos seguidos en una fila de su tarjeta de BINGO, él recibía un premio de dulces de mi parte..

Esta actividad fue muy divertida de preparar y de jugar con los estudiantes, y creo que estos juegos ayudaron a todos a aprender más sobre estos temas de historia, e inglés también!
